Samuel Ngui
Samuel Ngui's personal geography reaches as far as Japan. Half Swiss, half Kenyan, he grew up in Zurich and discovered his passion for graffiti art and rap in his youth with the vocation to draw. For Samuel, sketching practice is an exercise in speed and impulsiveness. The course is fast, fleeting and it is impossible to locate the point where it has started or stopped. It is an overlapping scene of figures and objects sketched in their traditional appearance and perception. This authentic form shapes the work of Samuel Ngui, where reality isalways intertwined with collective imagination.Samuel Ngui's work collects the visions and impressions of Zurich, Kenya (unknown homelands studied), Japan (example of non-stop scenario) and of re-visited old masters (productive ground for experiments and insights).
